Workstation shipments in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region increased 12.7% year on year in first half of 2014. Global research and advisory company IDC expects this healthy performance to continue in the second half of the year, with 11.2% growth forecast compared to the same period of 2013.

“We see that vendors are taking advantage of the confidence in market conditions and the improvement in credit rates, and are strengthening their channel plans,” says Mohamed Hefny, senior analyst with IDC’s systems and infrastructure department. “They recruit more value-added resellers and add new reward systems, while further supporting them with demo-purpose models, in addition to training programs. All of this increases the number of end users reached and eventually results in increased sales.”

The platform enhancements soon to be shipped to the region will offer wider bandwidth, faster computing speeds, and more power-efficient performance, which should secure continuous strong demand over next year, especially in business segments like oil and gas, media production, and aeronautics, where price is less of a factor in purchasing decisions.
